Who Am I?

My name is Joanne Rigutto and I have a small farm in Mulino, Oregon, where I breed Lipizzan horses, study basic animal behavior, and create unique artwork featuring the animals. Having a place in the country where I could work with animals and study animal behavior has always been a dream for me, and when we moved out here in 1992 I thought I had died and gone to heaven.

I put in a lot of hours our here, as I work pretty much full time for a general contractor, installing ceramic tile and stone. I commonly work from 6:00am till around 9:00 or 10:00pm during the week days, and only slightly shorter hours on the weekends, but you know what? I wouldn't change it for the world...well, maybe if I won the lottery. ;-)

In 2005 I was blessed with the opportunity to buy a purebred Lipizzan stallion to breed to my Lipizzan mare, and I thought, how much better can life get? Then I found out about NAIS and how it had the potential to ruin my farm and breeding operation before it even got off the ground.

I'm used to hard work and long hours, and will fight to keep and build upon what I've struggled so hard to achieve over the years. This is my life, and I'm not going to give it up.

To learn more about my farm, the horses here, my art or how to help support the effort to defeat NAIS for small farmers take one of the links in the navbar at the top of this page.
